Dot Survey is an app which helps companies of all shapes and sizes create surveys which allow them to gather customer data. Users can then post those surveys on their website or host them with Dot Survey while sharing them on a variety of social media tools. Users can choose from a broad list of templates or can use the CopyKat tool to instantly match survey branding to existing branding on the user’s home page or website. The user gets access to a full feature dashboard which helps display and interpret survey results. All of this is done with a drag and drop “What you see is what you get” tool.
DotSurvey launched in 2010. Since its launch it has gathered several high profile clients, including Volvo and the Best Western hotel chain. It has not achieved a huge fan base, but the high-level clients are sure to draw other high level clients.
While there are other survey apps none of them include the branding power that DotSurvey offers. The ability to copy your own website look and feel without going back to a web designer is a real money saving boon for any business which regularly incorporates surveys and customer data into their process.
The app is incredibly easy to use. One simply follows a step by step process to get the forms created. There are no mysteries and it doesn’t take long to learn. The interface is clean and fun to handle, colorful and fresh.
Users create accounts by providing their first name, last name, company name, e-mail, and password. Users are then kicked back to a log in screen to use their new username and password. At this point the user is forced to go through a captcha verification. Then the user has to verify terms and conditions. The app could stand to streamline all of this a little bit.
Every Dot Survey user is given a 30 day free trial, and users do not have to provide a credit card to receive access to the trial. Once the 30 day free trial is over users must pay $25 per month plus a value added tax. A paid account allows a user to create unlimited surveys. They can add up to five users to an account. There is full integration with dotMailer and all of the page branding tools are available, as are multiple themes and templates.
Companies who use surveys for market research, product creation, and customer engagement will benefit from DotSurvey. DotSurvey can be a big part of a social media marketing strategy where listening to the customer and hearing opinions is paramount. It can be a good way to pinpoint areas that the company needs to work on as well as helping companies play to their strengths. Companies who want to create customer satisfaction surveys can also benefit from using DotSurvey, since surveys could be turned to this purpose as well. This application probably won’t be as much help to smaller business concerns or solo entrepreneurs.
